Value added Features of iron:

  • Low Maintenance

  • Unaffected by heat or cold

  • Lasting durability

Each piece of work is handcrafted, one at a time, using traditional and modern processes. We are excited about sharing with you our line of forged ironwork. You will be able to witness our craftsmanship, the elaborate ornamentation and the decoration of great intricacy and grace, which can be obtained with our experience, and knowledge of iron forging.

Finishes:

Paint: When using paint, the entire piece is primed and then painted - this is suitable for inside or outside use. Refinishing for existing ironwork is also available through Guntown Forge with sandblasting, followed by paint or powder coating used for the new finish depending on the client's desires and budget.

Rust finish: The "rust" finish is achieved by using a chemical that causes the metal to have the original rust look, and then a clear coat is applied over the entire piece to preserve it.

Powder coating is an advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to a wide range of materials and products that are used by both industries and consumers. The powder used for the process is a mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin, which is sprayed onto a surface to be coated. The charged powder particles adhere to the electrically grounded surfaces until heated and fused into a smooth coating in a curing oven. The result is a uniform, durable, high-quality, and attractive finish. Powder coating is the fastest growing finishing technology in North America, representing over 10% of all industrial finishing applications.

Colors Offered:

Our wrought iron gates, fence and other ornamental iron products are available in 3 standard colors, black, white and cream. Custom color powder coating is also available in an unlimited array of colors. Guntown Forge uses the highest quality powder coating for all of our iron designs.
Powder coated surfaces are more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and wearing than other finishes. The colors used in powder coating stay bright and vibrant longer than paint and durability is incomparable. Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, and rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections or for a more artistic touch. Powder coating offers many advantages listed below a most important being greater durability and flexibility.

Advantages of Powder Coating:

  • Durability exceeds most liquid coatings - Powder coating gives our clients be they home owners, businesses or industrial clients one of the most economical, longest-lasting, and most color-durable quality finishes available.

  • Wide variety of textures and glosses

  • Finishes offer minimal surface irregularities, runs or sagging

  • Highly Engineered

    • To resist corrosion from chemicals and weather

    • For UV stability to resist fading and discoloration

    • For high impact resistance

  • Thicker coatings provide longer wear

    • Adhesion is greatly enhanced by blast-cleaning

    • Flexibility is enhanced

  • Environmentally Safe:

    • Uses no volatile solvents - Unlike paint and other type finishes powder coating is also highly protective of our environment. While liquid finishes contain solvents which have pollutants known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), powder coating contains no solvents and releases negligible amounts, if any, of VOCs into the atmosphere. Thus, there is no longer a need for finishers to buy costly pollution control equipment. In addition, most powder coating overspray that does not adhere to the part can be retrieved and reused, virtually eliminating the waste commonly found in liquid finishing processes.

    • Meets tough environmental regulations - Elimination of VOCs and reduction of wastes saves money and helps companies comply more easily and economically with the regulations. The lack of upkeep on a powder coated finish and the constant priming, painting and repainting required often times on painted metal designs offers our clients years of maintenance free enjoyment of their Guntown Forge powder coated metal designs.
